Genji immediately responds to the request for help in the affirmative. The Shimada clan had its hands in drug trafficking and distribution, so he feels like he has a unique perspective on this. He also just wants to know more about the criminal element of Lunatia. He avails himself of the information, and picks out an outfit.
This time it's a fusion of new and old. He has a black, kimono-esque shirt paired with a green haori. The shirt is not tight to his skin but loose, gathered in place with a leather belt and slim black slacks and black shoes. He arrives with it all in one piece, but as the night progresses, he will slide the his left arm out of the sleeve of his shirt and jacket… a bit like his brother's former look. He's still wearing his armor, of course, but he has forgone the mask and helmet.
▶ expert timing
Genji knows how to play cards but it is not his preferred game. Instead, he can be found at the mahjong tables, playing with others and speaking to them as they play. He encourages easy conversation and cracks a few jokes that make the Lightless laugh. He seems to be almost in his element, here, and wins quite a few games. Once he loses a few (by throwing or genuine loss), he takes his leave to 'save what he's won'.
He doesn't partake of the drink roulette, but he does pass by it that he could easily run into someone who has.
▶ fast as lightning
Genji cannot turn down a chance such as this to battle. His spirit dragon Ramen is not happy to be subdued by the bracelet, but he reassures her that he knows what he is doing. After all, he has a cybernetically enhanced body, as well as his shuriken, katana, and wakizashi. He is basically fighting 'naked', having foregone his clothes he wore earlier.
Genji is a skilled fighter but he's not impossible to beat. However, he quickly makes a name for himself by refusing to kill people he's defeated, and for the fact that he openly offers to moonlace with those who are injured.
He's a fierce fighter, but Barbarus proves too difficult and he backs off.
▶ a little bit frightening
Once the trap is sprung, Genji is back in his element of combat. This time he can summon Ramen, his spirit dragon, making him glow with an otherworldly green light. In this form his attacks are stronger, and his abilities enhanced. He's able to reflect the fireballs back at Barbarus from people who might otherwise be hit.
Other than that, Genji focuses primarily on the large Lightless that is floating around attacking them. He'll be throwing shurikens and playing distraction, but if someone is struck by glow he has no problem kissing them to shake them out of it - even if he doesn't know them!

fast as lighting - let me know if this doesn't work!
Engineer gets to the tournament in time to see Genji square off with Barbarus. It wasn't pretty - which is why the merc thinks to build one of his Dispensers in the holding area.
Whenever Genji drags himself out of the ring, the Texan will be waiting, his embroidered jacket hanging off his shoulder and a gloved hand patting the four-foot blue box just next to him.
Genji is pretty battered - although he backed off before it became damage that would be harder to repair. Still, the cuts and bruises to his face and the way he carries himself speaks to some deeper bruising.
Hearing Engineer speak, however, gets him perking up a little, grinning through a swelling eye.
"Thanks! You must have also seen my defeat, however."
The dispenser slowly reaching out a line to him has him pausing, however.
"I did, but you ain't the only one. Fella looks meaner than a junkyard dog. I seen people come away lookin' a helluva lot worse than you do right now."
Not that Genji didn't look bad as it. Engineer notes it, giving him a short once-over, and pats the Dispenser next to him.
"This here's a Dispenser. Step right up and you'll see what it does."
"A wise warrior knows when it is time to retreat. No battle will be won with needless death."
And he'd seen Barbarus put a few people in the grave, which is ultimately what spurred him to make sure he stopped in time. In the present, he gives Dell a quizzical look before he steps closer, allowing the dispenser to fully make its connection.
He feels the swelling on his face start to reduce after a moment and he looks at his arms. The various dents and dings from the battle begin to pop back into place as well.
Dell grins as he watches blue healing vapor travels out of the canister attached to the Dispenser's side and toward Genji. Yep. Still works like a charm.
"Sorta. My old job was 'defense,' technically. Mostly involved settin' up a backline where people could fall back and recover if they had to. Took a load off our combat medic, too."
He pats the top of the Dispenser again.
"Wouldn't believe how many idiots I had shoutin' at me for Dispensers with nothin' bigger than a papercut, though."
[Hanzo spots his brother in the casino, and grabs him by the arm to pull him away to a quiet hallway that they're likely not supposed to be in.]
I found something.
[He doesn't go into detail as they are meant to be undercover, but he does open his hand to reveal two capsules of Glow in his palm. His brain has already worked out a handful of ways that the Glow could be useful to them for their mission as well as outside it, but he looks up at his brother to see what he says.]
[ genji titters softly to his brother as he pulls him aside, but as soon as they are out of sight he sobers up immediately. especially when he sees those two capsules of glow. ]
Is that -? I did not know they were hoping to get samples back.
[ he's playing dumb, and hanzo's welcome to call him out on it. he's just hoping hanzo's explanation is for the mission and not for anything outside of it. ]
[He keeps his eyes on Genji to gauge his expression, closing his hand around the capsules again.]
Have you actually seen what it does to those who use it? I must admit I am curious about that aspect of it. I figured you might have more insight about these things than I do. I have only been able to determine that it is not a downer, which leads me to believe it is a stimulant of some sort?
[Hanzo has tried things but he's no expert on party drugs. This is Genji's specialty.]
I haven't seen it, but I've spoken to some of Janus' guards.
[ read: flirted like hell, but it must have worked. genji's expression is best described as trepidation - whether of the drug or hanzo's potential plans, is anyone's guess. ]
It's definitely a stimulant, but it does not sound like ecstasy or cocaine. More like PCP, from what I hear. It enhances your abilities to an incredible degree, but also your blessings. It makes you voracious for chroma as well, much, much worse than the dragons did.
A little goes a long way, and too much becomes painful before you apparently just stop caring and feeling. I'd hate to see the results of who found that out.
[Well. At least someone is learning things and not just drinking their time away. Hanzo knew Genji would have some insight that he hadn't considered, but this was more than he imagined.
Genji, in this form, can't possibly handle recreational drug use the way he used to so Hanzo pockets one of the capsules and empties the powder out onto one of his hands.]
I will use just a bit, then. To be safe. I trust that if I get out of hand you will take care of it.
[Before his brother could protest, he leans forward in an attempt to snort a bit of the drug to feel the effects faster than if he'd ingested it. Within a couple minutes his hair begins to lighten and his ears change shape and grow furry, gradually shifting further up his head. When he feels his pants tightening he assumes it's his tail coming out as well. Besides the physical changes he doesn't feel any different...yet.]
The mahjong tables were one place Takame had a true interest, though more of one if he weren't focused so heavily on the mission they were given. The tiles used in this realm were different, but the principle was the same as Doman mahjong for what little it mattered given the fact that he'd played it only in his adulthood.
Even more familiar to Doma was his last opponent's attire, at least half of why Takame chose to challenge him last round the other half being merely watching gave people leave to stare and thus raise suspicion. As if they didn't stare at his horns enough. No matter the result of the round, he gave a respectful bow of his head.
It is a close game, admittedly, but Genji pulls out a slight win in the end - something he's more than positive is just any unfamiliarity Takame has with the tiles. He collects his winnings with a little whistle, and when the man comments, he laughs gently.
"I have spent too much time watching my father and uncles play this game." Although that was years ago, he'd managed to pick up some skill it seems.
He'll take a loss in stride so long as it was to a worthy opponent. He'd only ever played the game at the suggestion of others when he was pulled into the Gold Saucer by his more well off adventurers after a grueling job. He didn't have the free time to play otherwise, of course that was entirely his own doing. And he was more interested in the mission and the man before him than the game.
"Hm. I've learned to play but recently myself. Ah, but the tiles they use here are not familiar to me."
Genji, similarly, is more interested in the tournament and those trafficking the drug than the game. As such, after a moment he waves the man up with him, towards the bar.
"Well, I would be happy to play other games to help you familiarize. Maybe not ones with money on the line, though," he adds with a grin.
"Hah!" A familiar high-pitched laugh echos over the excitement of the crowd, one that Genji knows quite well.
"I should've known we would cross blades again!" Yoshimitsu shouts as he backflips into the ring like some sort of jester more than a ninja. Unlike their last steamy encounter in Hanzo's humble abode, Yoshimitsu is head-to-toe in armor again with that iconic white oni mask concealing his face.
Yoshimitsu almost fell out on the ground when Genji calls him that in front of hundreds of people. Thank goodness he's wearing this mask. The poor Manji is positively flustered. "QUIT IT!" He shouts as he threateningly points his katana at Genji. "It's Yoshimitsu! The Great Yoshimitsu! Don't you ever forget it!" His antics within the ring earns a few laughs from the crowd but the audience is getting a tad antsy. They came here to see a fight, not a comedy show.
Once they start chanting, Yoshimitsu gets into stance.
"Come at me with all you got! I can take it." He says proudly with a grin hidden behind his mask.
Genji laughs, tossing his head back when the Manji points his blade at him, but falling into an easy stance, his hand on his own blade and readying himself.
"We will see who comes out on top and gets their reward, me or you, The Great Yoshimitsu... kun."
The last tease is added on, and then Genji darts forward. He's maybe not as fast as he was in their first battle, but it's clear that he's still just as deadly. He moves to swing his blade at Yoshimitsu from the left.
Jack is trying to give Overwatch agents a wide berth, both because he doesn't really want to face them, and because he imagines they're not terribly keen to see him, in turn. It seems only obvious, however, that most of them would enter the tournament or otherwise be adjacent to it. It's only a matter of time, then, before he runs into Genji in the holding area, and he's glad for his tactical gear, giving him something of a buffer when it comes to this interaction.
But he's been paying attention, of course. Watches how Genji refuses to kill his defeated opponents, and backs down when he realizes Barbarus is too tough. Jack can't say he blames him--he exited the tournament himself earlier, for similar reasons.
"Not bad. Quit while you're ahead."
Jack is trying to wait out the adrenaline rush in the holding area, offering Genji a nod when he exits the arena after bowing out.
For Genji's part, he'd absolutely seen Jack. But between Gabriel being here now, and the state of their last interaction, he had been ignoring him.
Hard to keep doing that when the man comments about quitting while he's ahead, as Genji steps back down to the holding area, battered and bruised but alive.
"Thanks," he says it coolly, clearly not looking to engage Jack in anything more. He's feeling petty enough that if Jack wants to talk, he's going to have to make the first move.
It’s about the level of engagement he expects, though 76 won’t be deterred that easily. There’s unfortunately no real first aid to offer, leaving him a little idle, but he’s nothing if not tenacious. Despite their differences, and the fact that 76 isn’t necessarily keen on doing this either, he knows he can’t ignore recent events, not when it’s going to affect more than just him.
So, he continues.
“Reyes is here.” He’s fairly positive that Genji has sussed that out for himself already, simply by nature of his —this is more about not giving anyone the opportunity to accuse him of hiding things. “Wanted to warn you, if you haven’t run into him yet.”
"We have crossed paths. I am assuming you have as well if you are here to speak of him," Genji says. He moves to examine some dented armor - he will have to get that fixed, either by Angela or Engineer later.
This time, though, he looks up at Jack directly.
"You know, he is not the same man you fought in Switzerland." There is something akin to a warning in his tone about it.
