Engineer gets to the tournament in time to see Genji square off with Barbarus. It wasn't pretty - which is why the merc thinks to build one of his Dispensers in the holding area.
Whenever Genji drags himself out of the ring, the Texan will be waiting, his embroidered jacket hanging off his shoulder and a gloved hand patting the four-foot blue box just next to him.
Genji is pretty battered - although he backed off before it became damage that would be harder to repair. Still, the cuts and bruises to his face and the way he carries himself speaks to some deeper bruising.
Hearing Engineer speak, however, gets him perking up a little, grinning through a swelling eye.
"Thanks! You must have also seen my defeat, however."
The dispenser slowly reaching out a line to him has him pausing, however.
"I did, but you ain't the only one. Fella looks meaner than a junkyard dog. I seen people come away lookin' a helluva lot worse than you do right now."
Not that Genji didn't look bad as it. Engineer notes it, giving him a short once-over, and pats the Dispenser next to him.
"This here's a Dispenser. Step right up and you'll see what it does."
"A wise warrior knows when it is time to retreat. No battle will be won with needless death."
And he'd seen Barbarus put a few people in the grave, which is ultimately what spurred him to make sure he stopped in time. In the present, he gives Dell a quizzical look before he steps closer, allowing the dispenser to fully make its connection.
He feels the swelling on his face start to reduce after a moment and he looks at his arms. The various dents and dings from the battle begin to pop back into place as well.
Dell grins as he watches blue healing vapor travels out of the canister attached to the Dispenser's side and toward Genji. Yep. Still works like a charm.
"Sorta. My old job was 'defense,' technically. Mostly involved settin' up a backline where people could fall back and recover if they had to. Took a load off our combat medic, too."
He pats the top of the Dispenser again.
"Wouldn't believe how many idiots I had shoutin' at me for Dispensers with nothin' bigger than a papercut, though."
"Ah, that sounds familiar. Always have a backup for your backup, as they say."
And backups on backups beyond that. Reyes was a sufficiently paranoid man who like to plan while being adaptable to changes. He comes closer, examining the machine.
"What is it that it uses to heal?" He would not be surprised by 'nanites', but at the same time he knows that he's never heard Dell utter the word.
"It's a... vapor, so to speak. A partner 'a mine - the combat medic - came up with it. Mixture of a lot of different stuff, found it by accident. Once you know how to mix it all together, it's pretty easy to make your own. I just keep it here."
PFFFT. Engineer rubs his shoulder and beams at Genji with a mildly shit-eating grin.
"Who knows? Maybe I got ulterior motives."
Spoilers: he doesn't.
Anyway. Shoulder properly rubbed, he leans against the wall this time, crossing his arms.
"Anyway... that's about all it is. A healing vapor." Made of a lot of weird shit, if Genji's curious. "Figured I oughta set up down here and see what kinda damage that big bastard up there's causin'. Doesn't hurt to hear people's first-hand experiences, either. I've met some big fellas, but he's sorta... suspiciously so, if you get my meanin'."
Genji lets his shoulder get rubbed as he laughs again, but when Dell asks about the fight and lowers his voice, his expression falls to something more serious, and he nods. It's no wonder he wears a mask - he telegraphs his expressions quite well without one on.
"I agree. I spoke to some people before the tournament and I believe he is the man that they were testing it on. He is apparently a favorite of the man in charge here."
"Sounds about right," Engineer murmurs, watching the other man. Great minds think alike and all. Dell himself was pretty similar, an expressive man even behind thick goggles.
"Which would make this place one big testin' ground, with money and bloodsports on the side. Pretty decent scheme."
"Get a bunch of people eager to fight together, then face them against your dosed-up favorite. Some of the other combatants could have been given doses too."
Genji has a faint frown on his face as something occurs to him.
"Were any of the moon blessed you've spoken to offered any of the drug?"
"Not exactly. I noticed there's eyes on us sometimes, though. I dunno if it's personal paranoia, or the fact we're a lot of newcomers at once, but - it feels like somebody knows we're around."
fast as lighting - let me know if this doesn't work!
Whenever Genji drags himself out of the ring, the Texan will be waiting, his embroidered jacket hanging off his shoulder and a gloved hand patting the four-foot blue box just next to him.
"You fight damn good, Mister Shimada."

It was his equivalent of I NEED HEALING.

Genji quirks one eyebrow to his friend, looking at the dispenser and then to Dell.
"You're not giving me drugs, are you? At least, not anything we'd call illegal."

Said completely deadpan, expression neutral for about... three seconds, until he busts up laughing.

"I would have told you that would have been a bigger problem for you than me!"
