Genji had accepted the offer of the bracelet from the locals - especially given how insistent they seemed on him wearing it. He's tucked it around his wrist and under his armor, so as not to lose it accidentally.
In the meantime, he's also donned a pair of sleek gloves in order to help with the planting of the seeds. It may be odd to see a man in full armor with two blades on his back, cheerily humming and helping to dig up and plant seeds, but he's getting along well. He'll offer his help with any other Moonblessed who needs it.
And, honestly, he wants one of those green bonsai trees for his apartment.
If you expected to see Genji at any audition, it might probably wouldn't have been the dance one. Still, he is there - with a green dragon mask and one of the scale unitards, under which can be seen the glow of his cybernetics.
He's giving it his all in the dance, circling around those who are in their dresses and moving around. He's having a lot of fun - even if he doesn't end up picked for the dance, he's enjoying the chance to sweep people off their feet and twirl them around. He's even doing it to others wearing the dragon masks, occasionally.
▶ YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND, BABY, RIGHT ROUND
Flowers that supposedly share the feelings of others? It sounds like some mood ring kind of thing, but Genji loves a good flower and, well, what can it really hurt? He's gathered a couple of the flowers to hold onto, and will be handing them out when he feels like it. Feel free to speak to him while he's got a bundle - or give him one yourself.
▶ JUST LIKE ANIMALS-MALS
The dance of the Queen, the rotation - it's all quite impressive, but when he sees all three moons high in the sky, he feels dread creep up his spine. He's seen what the moons do - and now they are all in alignment.
He feels it quickly - the rush of the moon, like he had when he'd arrived. It's different, and thank the Iris he's wearing a bracelet, as it holds the worst of it back. Still, he has to pull off his helmet and the coverings, letting free the red, perky fox ears that spear up through his green hair. He's not happy about having to reveal his scarred face, but he has no choice. He's also sprouted a long, graceful fox tail from the small of his back, and the material of his artificial feet has changed, elongating into the heels of his wolf form to allow him faster speed.
The Protector - Genji may be under the effect of the Cordis moon, but he's still in control of his faculties. He'll go through the Prismals and Moonblessed, rescuing those who seem to be in dire straights or fighting off those who seem to have lost control. His goal is not to damage, but to subdue, and then take them to a safe place in order to sleep off the effects. If you want to have Genji defeat your character, he can, otherwise if it seems he's in over his head he'll rescue who he can and beat a retreat.
The Mischievous Ninja - While he's retained his senses, he's still effected by the Cordis moon. During his rescues or fights, he may pluck an item off your character to keep as a trophy. If no one is in danger, he's also the type to approach someone and flirt with them, or follow them to give them a light scare for being tracked by a fox-man. He's open to sexual encounters, though he likely won't be going all the way with anyone.
Wildcard - Have a different idea or want to encounter Genji somewhere else? Feel free to PM Genji's journal!
Through the peaceful murmur of Moonblessed gardening, there are two loud woofs and a startled - "Nisha!"
The large dog bounding across the parade route turned back, his tail wagging lightly, before he went back to playing. With a hand trowel in his mouth, it was clear that the dog had probably not been allowed to take it away. Yet, he's too far away from his owner - the only remnant of his owner is that voice - to even be reined back in.
Nisha instead seems to have a pep in his step, exploring curiously. The sunset-colored harness stood out from his fur, the leash dragging along the ground. Upon spotting Genji, just how strange he was (to Nisha himself, anyway) drew him in, padding over with confused perk of his ears and tilted head. The whine of confusion was muffled by the handle of the trowel in his mouth, but he seemed eager to sniff and try and figure out this strange new person anyway.
Genji hums a little bit to himself as he works on planting another seedling. He didn't pay the startled voice much mind - there is plenty of noise going on around him - but the soft pad pad of feet over to him and then a whine has him looking up.
His helmet is pushed up, at least, exposing his eyes, and they crinkle in delight and a small chuckle as he raises a gloved hand for inspection. Nisha may smell many things - the metal and synthetic of his body, the faint electric scent of energy, but underneath it all is a distinctly human scent.
"Why hello there. You seem to have slipped your master's leash."
Nisha lowered his head, nosing and sniffing at the metallic hand offered to him - he barks, the noise muffled by what's in his mouth, though it quickly drops to the ground. He seems far more interested in Genji than making off like a bandit with his owner's tools.
There's clearly a human under there, after all - under the plastic and metal, but that wasn't quite right, either. It smelled like his owner's chair. He lightly chewed at the hand offered, not trying to actually inflict hurt with a bite, but trying to figure out what was "wrong" with the texture, or if this was a strange golem from a far-off land. Was it plastic all the way down? Metal? Was this a gauntlet of some kind? He tugged lightly as if trying to take off the glove.
Genji can sense that the dog is not biting with intent, merely the curious bite of someone trying to figure out what's going on. For Nisha's part, he'll find that it's metal - and something similar to metal under that that gives, somehow softer.
Genji's dragon, however, is none too happy about being chewed on. There's a slight sizzle of chroma and she comes slinking up over his shoulder, chattering a warning to Nisha despite being the size of a small chihuahua.
A robotic metal hand reaches out from Genji's periphary, handing him a spade. It's attached to a short, stocky man with an obvious southern accent. He grins through a dirty face as he kneels the rest of the way next to Genji.
If Genji asks, he'll be honest. The merc spotted him out of the corner of his eye, and he's pretty damn curious about his arm. Still, might as well introduce himself first.
"Me too. I grew up on a ranch, though, so here's hopin' my muscle memory kicks in for both our sakes."
Engineer gives a light, wheezy chuckle at that as he gets himself comfortable on the ground. He glances up, briefly taking in more of the neon city surrounded by this peaceful little park, then looks back to Genji. The reverb isn't lost on him, either. Curious.
"Well."
Come on, Engie. You were going to tell the truth anyway.
"I'll be honest, I saw you from over there and I got curious about your set-up here," He says as he gestures towards Genji's chest. "Your armor. I figured the spade was a good excuse."
His smile turns wry.
"But I can help anyway."
i had yours open to hit up too so this is a pleasant surprise!
Genji remembers taking care of plants in his youth, but he's pretty sure it fell by the wayside as he got older. He's helped the monks at the monastery with it, however, more recently - what could grow in the cold of Nepal, at least.
Genji gives a good natured chuckle when Engineer gestures to his chest. There's clearly no offense taken, at the very least. "Well, I can do my best to answer any questions about it. It was built for me, so I may not have all the answers - but I know the woman who did is here in the city."
The planting is set aside, for the moment. He's more curious about this man who has questions about him.
[ a shadow falls over genji, which reveals itself as a small young man stepping over one of the other rows with what looks like a watering can that's probably too big for him to be carrying comfortably by himself. at his side is a small fox with oddly-colored markings and a bell-collar, who immediately seats himself neatly at his master's side as the human stops, water sloshing a little in the can.
he offers a quick, warm smile, jostling the can in his arms before setting it down with a relieved little sigh. ]
Ah, hello. You've been working a while, so.. I wanted to come over and say hello and offer to water your work for you. [ he dips into a polite bow, then indicates the fox and himself. ] This is Konnosuke, and I'm the saniwa here. [ a beat. ] The only one that I'm aware of, at least. [ konnosuke dips his own chin politely, ears perking up. ] Hello!
[ genji sits back when the shadow falls over him, looking up at the young man and his fox. he tilts his head a little and seems to perk up a little with delight. ]
I was not aware there were any priests here. [ his voice, while synthetic, clearly identifies him as of japanese origin. he bows from the waist up in kind, looking down at the fox when he speaks. ]
I was not aware saniwa came with talking foxes these days, either.
[ oh. someone else from home. the saniwa straightens faintly, smoothing his clothing; he hasn't been asked to step into a more formal role since arriving.
he glances down at konnosuke, though, and reaches down to scratch the pointed ears. ]
The role of saniwa has changed somewhat in my time, and Konnosuke is a very special fox. [ konnosuke preens under the attention, butting his head up into the saniwa's fingers. ] I'm an android!
How many of these free bonsai is she gunning for? She has an apartment that is meant to look quite natural so she's hoping for a number of them. Which means she's strategising and moving in and out in order to get more plants. Or which at least two are now sitting safely in her apartment.
It's back to getting down and dirty. With a shovel. It's a good thing she happens to really like gardening.
The sight of a fully armoured man with two katanas does not deter her as he so cheerfully approaches his task, and that is what she picks up on. Curiously, she leans over to see what he's up to now, her tools held close.
"You're quite resourceful." She may be indicating the other seedlings he's already planted.
Genji finds gardening quite peaceful. It is something he can almost meditate to - the motion of digging, planting, and recovering the little seeds, knowing they will grow larger and stronger with team.
When she leans over to look, he looks up. He's seen her around from time to time, but far be it for him to call out someone wanting to get a bunch of plants. He chuckles a little when she says he's resourceful.
"I used to spend my time in a monastery in Nepal. We planted many things that could survive the cold there."
That is definitely something she can agree on! It's relaxing, a structured task that is also life-giving. The more plants the better, and so she hopes it's the same here.
Also, she sure is glad he isn't judging her, she can't help it! Chroma is still a task to get considering her own reservations, and she has yet to get a job. Hmm.
Still, her eyes widen with interest when he replies. "Oh? So resourceful and resilient! That must have been a very calming experience. I have visited often before for work." Or at least, being what she is, anyway. "Is that where you are from?"
[ten, eleven, twelve... Wait, where's the twelfth?
Mamoru's eyebrows shoot up. As someone who's usually in a foreign place and has had no backup plenty of times, he tends to keep a tally of where he throws his throwing knives at. Sometimes, they end up lodged into something he can't retrieve from (like security cameras, or someone's knee), but most of the time they slice clean through and land somewhere where he could pick up later on.
Limited ammo is a bitch, but it's something Mamoru has learned to deal with.
He walks over to the place he last saw that knife, wedged into a neon sign, the circuits still snapping from the cut.
Goddamn it. He turns to the fighter who had been - impressively - fighting other two Cerebus away from a family.]
[ the man helping him had been quite useful in keeping the lightless away from those who needed protection. of course, his own blade had helped as well.
thankfully, he has tried not to hurt those he was fighting too badly, and they lay unconscious now. he also has that knife that mamoru had thrown. ]
I can't say I've seen it recently.
[ he says, straight-faced, while he tosses the knife up into the air and catches it again with a mischievous grin, one ear perking up. ]
Maybe it's his system malfunctioning again. He pushes the sunglasses up the bridge of his nose. He doesn't really miss the way that Genji throws and catches the blade again and again without much of an effort, but so far he's looking unimpressed.]
Funny. [Comes the dry sound of his skepticism surprisingly well through the distance.] Throw it.
[Hanzo follows the scent of his brother through all the chaos, just wanting to check up on him. Due to his lack of bracelet and stubbornness about wearing it he's literally become a large wolf. There are only bits of his humanity left in his brain, but it's not enough to allow him the ability to communicate with speech. So instead when he does locate Genji he circles around him excitedly.
His tail wags and he jumps up on him to lick his face like it might heal his scars and when that doesn't work he just sits down in front of him. There's a whole lot going on around him. People struggling with their transformations and acting impulsively or deliberately aggressive. Hanzo just sits there, glancing around to make sure there's nothing threatening himself of Genji. Other than that he's fairly calm for some reason. Well, that and being a giant wolf.]
[ in truth, genji doesn't recognize him right away. it's a large white wolf with golden markings - it's not exactly his first thought to associate it with his brother.
but it is ramen who rumbles from inside him, feeling the connection of her brothers inside the wolf. so it leaves no doubt - this is hanzo. it's why he doesn't startle away when the wolf jumps up to lick his face. ]
Hanzo - down.
[ once his brother has settled, he crouches, ears perked forward curiously. he reaches both hands out to scratch hanzo's cheeks gently, also giving him a chance to examine the change. ]
[He doesn’t take kindly to being talked to like some kind of lapdog but on the flip side it’s really nice to have that attention. He closes his eyes in response to the scratches, not noticing that Genji is examining him so closely. Hanzo sniffs him again before opening his eyes again. His head cocks to one side at the words. He understands but can’t quite communicate a response.
Though he doesn’t have much to say, anyway. A suspicious person comes close to them and his demeanor changes, growling in warning until they turn around to walk away. Hanzo sits quietly near Genji, no plans to do much but follow his brother around to protect him.]
[ Takato is still able to pick up that he's being followed this time around. Even though his long tentacle laden hair is keeping him busy as he tries to keep it under some form of control. The effects are making it harder to really handle this time around and he tries to stop himself from plucking up a few of those special flowers that were being handed out earlier in the week.
It would seem his subconscious, along with his new appendages, had other plans with them. Still the iridescent tentacles coupled with his black, sparkling, antlers is a pretty strange sight. Also his skin is bio-luminescent and flickers between varying colors as he walks through the gardens. It's finally after some time that he turns, with a slight jump and yelp, to see Genji tracking him. He might clench those flowers close to his chest unconsciously as he gives the other a wary look. ]
It'd be impossible for Angela not to recognize Genji— in any costume, in any location, seeing the green glow at his shoulders beneath the suit. She's dressed as one of the flowers he's to be tending and they're to pair up, so she beelines right for him with a smile and some of those little flowers from the stalls. It shouldn't come as a surprise when the one she hands him turns pink, then a little deeper— not quite red, but near enough to it. Somewhere between family and a purer love, with a dash of lust.
It almost matches the color of the dress she twirls in for his appraisal before she lowers to take a graceful seat beside him, where they're to sit and watch the performance before being taught the steps.
"It seems I've found a wolf in sheep's clothing. Only now it's a dragon in faux dragon's clothing..?"
Genji gives a small laugh, his cheeks coloring red. He hands her one of his own flowers - something that starts out red and turns to a softer pink. They feel the same way about each other, and it's good to know that. He turns the fluctuating flower she gave him between his fingers.
"Perhaps I have simply dressed myself how I am on the inside." A flower cultivating dragon, apparently. "I have found a flower that seems to bloom more beautiful every day, however."
Is it silly to feel relieved? Perhaps a little. It's nothing they didn't know of one another after the discussion they felt the need to have, to clarify their footing in this place where intimacies were expected and encouraged, and they naturally gravitated to one another. But others, as well. Particularly Angela, who can never stop herself from extending a helping hand and looking for reasons to adore others around her. Angela tucks the flower he gave her up over her ear and leans against his left, legs unfurling to her left side, giving him her weight and her warmth.
"Well, you're quite ferocious. I think I rather liked the outside. He had such a bright grin." The instructor goes on about the story they're to be weaving, protective dragons with their gardens and their flowers blessed by the moon, so on and so forth. It's far more fun to be teasing her friend. "It sounds like you had better treasure it, then, before any other dragons come along and pluck it from you. Roots and all."
She knows he's speaking of her, so her head comes to rest on his shoulder and tips back, nose crinkling. It's her amusement and her gratitude wrapped up in a single look, smiling at him.
ARRIVAL .002

It may be odd to see a man in full armor with two blades on his back, cheerily humming and helping to dig up and plant seeds, but he's getting along well. "I would not mind one. It has been quite some time since I gardened."
He may notice how the man's voice is not entirely human - it has an artificial reverberation in it that makes him sound a bit different.
"Just stopping by to bring a spade?" He suspects there's more than that since he's crouching down, but he wouldn't be offended by any curiosity.
