[ a shadow falls over genji, which reveals itself as a small young man stepping over one of the other rows with what looks like a watering can that's probably too big for him to be carrying comfortably by himself. at his side is a small fox with oddly-colored markings and a bell-collar, who immediately seats himself neatly at his master's side as the human stops, water sloshing a little in the can.
he offers a quick, warm smile, jostling the can in his arms before setting it down with a relieved little sigh. ]
Ah, hello. You've been working a while, so.. I wanted to come over and say hello and offer to water your work for you. [ he dips into a polite bow, then indicates the fox and himself. ] This is Konnosuke, and I'm the saniwa here. [ a beat. ] The only one that I'm aware of, at least. [ konnosuke dips his own chin politely, ears perking up. ] Hello!
[ genji sits back when the shadow falls over him, looking up at the young man and his fox. he tilts his head a little and seems to perk up a little with delight. ]
I was not aware there were any priests here. [ his voice, while synthetic, clearly identifies him as of japanese origin. he bows from the waist up in kind, looking down at the fox when he speaks. ]
I was not aware saniwa came with talking foxes these days, either.
[ oh. someone else from home. the saniwa straightens faintly, smoothing his clothing; he hasn't been asked to step into a more formal role since arriving.
he glances down at konnosuke, though, and reaches down to scratch the pointed ears. ]
The role of saniwa has changed somewhat in my time, and Konnosuke is a very special fox. [ konnosuke preens under the attention, butting his head up into the saniwa's fingers. ] I'm an android!
[ konnosuke leaps to all four feet again, tail puffed up, ears perked, and eyes round with surprise. ] You have a dragon? That's amazing! [ and hard on the heels of his surprise, the saniwa folds his hands, eyes curious where they flick from the armor and then back up to genji's face. ] I had wondered a bit, [ he admits gently. it could have been armor.. probably, or genji might have been an android altogether. he didn't want to assume one way or another, but the older man offering the information so easily does answer some questions. ]
I think.. maybe.. I've been sensing your dragon? [ he taps a dirty knuckle against his mouth without thinking. ] It's hard to tell here, admittedly. This place throws my abilities off.
[ still, the question makes his smile return, faintly flustered at the edges in spite of himself. ] It's been an adjustment, going from war to relative peace so abruptly. I'm not quite certain what to do with myself here. [ but he's sure he's not the only one struggling to make sense of his new existence. even if, maybe, he's having a slightly more difficult time than some, given his very particular upbringing. ] What of you? [ his glance takes on an amused note. ] It seems as if you make quite a gardener, at least. Did you do this sort of thing at home?
[ in response to the saniwa potentially sensing her, ramen gives a small pulse of energy in his direction - so if he can, he will definitely feel the particular tinge of her energy. it's old, and playful, and definitely feels as if it's been constrained. ]
It is possible. She is always with me even if she is not visible.
[ he nods a little bit at his comment about battle, looking down at the plants and digging a little more. ]
It is always difficult to go from a battlefield to a lack of it. And I used to live at a monastery; I would help the monks plant during the spring, so this is a familiar act to me.
harvest moon...

[ genji smiles a little gesturing to himself. ]
I am a cyborg. I have a small friend, too, but she is a dragon and she costs energy to summon, so she's sleeping right now.
[ genji looks to the young man. ]
The role is a bit different in my time as well, but a saniwa is still a saniwa. How have you been managing?
