Genji tilts the arm for the Engineer to get a good look at the inner workings, since he leans forward. He does not mind letting him take a closer look, since his first instinct wasn't to try and stick his fingers in it.
(Thanks, Lena.)
He jumps a little bit at the slap and the laugh, but he laughs as well after a moment. How extremely Texan, indeed. He reminds him a little bit of Torbjorn.
"I appreciate the beauty of the design immensely," he says, with a warm tone - and when Angela is mentioned, he straightens a little bit.
"You would be correct. I am assuming you have met her already?"
it's fine, he's just slightly more homicidal than he is on a normal day
"Pretty much the entire thing. She consulted with other doctors and an engineer we had on site initially, but it is all her design and surgical work. I dare say she knows how it functions better than I do."
There's a good chuckle to be had about that, at least.
"Ultimately it has been modified for combat, so it can take quite a few hits before it needs repairs." He indicates a knee, where if Engineer looks closely he can see where armor meets seamlessly to cover dark, corded material - likely that second skin he spoke of.
He really wasn't. If he had any appreciation for being dumped on an alien planet, it would be to meet more like-minds like Angela. He admired the hell out of her work.
"Really," Engineer leans down to take a better look at the aforementioned knee. "Y'know... if you ever need repairs, I'd love an excuse to take a look 'atcha. Can't say cyborgs are my strong suit, but it ain't the first time I've worked with movin' parts."
He gestures to his own robotic hand, as a demonstration. And, after a pause, his face goes a little sheepish.
"I'm assumin' Angela does most of your repair work, though."
"She does," Genji confirms with some amusement. "But, she is always happy to teach those who are curious. If I need any repairs, I will ask if you can attend with her to sate your curiosity."
Engineer probably doesn't know how that is quite an offer from Genji. In his youth, he hated the body and barely tolerated Angela working on it. Now he has made peace, and certainly doesn't mind someone taking a look, within reason.
"I do not think you could take her job away, no offense to your skills. But having someone else who was familiar with the workings of my body would not be a bad thing to have, in a place like that. Consider it an offer that benefits your curiosity and my security."
"None taken," Engineer waves it off. He gets it. No respectable engineer wanted other fingers in their work without permission. Genji obviously sees through Engineer's curiosity, though, so he grins again.
"Then I'd DEFINITELY be interested, mister."
... Oh. Now that he thinks about it, he hasn't even introduced himself. He holds a hand out to shake.
"Dell Conagher, by the way. I'll go by 'Engie' too, on account of bein' an engineer, so... well. Take your pick, I reckon."
"Genji Shimada. I have no other forms of my name, so Genji is just fine," he says with a bright grin. The only other engineer he truly knows of is Torbjorn, and already he can see similarities - and the distinct differences as well.
"It is a pleasure to meet you, Dell. Not many people from my world are as curious yet kind as you are."
i do want. poor shook engie.

"It's damn good design."
The Texan looks back up at Genji.
"Sure have. We've talked science a lot, swapped tech stories."
and spit but that's another story"So she made this for ya?"oh mood genji says

He chuckles as he gives his own firm handshake before he lets go.
"Wouldn't exactly call myself 'kind,' but I appreciate it. 'Curious' is what got me through school, though."
Anyway. They may as well finish up the planting. He grabs a spadeful of dirt to start pouring over the hole.
