[ that is indeed what genji wants, and he lays his head on hanzo's shoulder when hanzo wraps an arm around him. he's loathe to let him go to help with the onions, in truth, but he knows he's being a pain and he might as well be useful in some capacity.
his ears perk up as he reluctantly pulls away, going to the counter to chop up said onions. it's not as neat as hanzo might do it but it's decent, at the very least, and doesn't take very long. ]
[ normally the shimada house is a very meat oriented household. but it'd only taken one meal for them to discover that whatever had made him like this had also made his stomach intolerable to handling meat.
a regret, for his normal choice of protein. but the vegetable stir fry smells delicious, and so genji is happy, as his ears perk up again. ]
Rice sounds wonderful. I would hardly turn down a stir fry from your hands.

[Hanzo doesn't mind the vegetables. Obviously he craves meat during certain times of the month, but for now he's fine looking after his brother.]
Good. It is already being cooked. [Not that he wouldn't find other uses for the rice. His appetite is healthier now that he's trying not to drink as often.
Eventually he turns off the stove and puts his arms around Genji, because he knows it'll calm him down at least a little until he can serve the food. Even when they were boys he never found himself being too physically affectionate, but..when they were boys his brother didn't have fluffy ears and a cute tail.]
[ genji makes a small noise when hanzo turns around to hug him. he is stiff for half a second before he all but melts into it, laying his cheek against his brother's shoulder. his ears droop backwards a bit and he sighs heavily. ]

[ he likes being affectionate with hanzo, do not get him wrong. but this need to be held or otherwise feel, for lack of a better word, stressed and upset, is not the way he wants to live a week and a half of his life every month. ]
I feel as if I am four years old again and begging to stay in your room because I am scared of the thunder.
[The sound Genji makes is hard to figure out. It seems conflicted, equal parts comfortable and troubled. Thankfully Genji begins to speak before Hanzo has to ask if anything's troubling him.]

Well, maybe the first couple days it was a lot to get used to all at once, but now he remembers to feed his brother vegetables and can deal with cuddling when Genji doesn't have anyone else available to him. It's the least he can offer after he's agreed to forgive him for...well, everything.]
You do not snore as cutely as you did at four. [He's definitely not smiling to hold back laughter.]
[The way Genji's hold becomes stronger as though he fears being let go is cute. He's been having the thought more frequently with his brother like this, but for his own safety he keeps it to himself.]

[If he seems like he's being dismissive of Genji's struggle it may be because there's a certain amount of enjoyment he gets out of being able to be affectionate with him like this. An excuse to do things he might have wanted to do before but couldn't quite find a reason to. They did get into fights often when they were boys but there were also moments like this when all they had to comfort themselves was each other.]
[ genji snorts a little bit when hanzo tells him he can't blame angela, but he doesn't comment on it again. the temporary comment is what gains his attention for now. ]

[The shock and horror of his body changing had given Hanzo the hardest time, but after that each time he became more used to it. In fact he'd grown to like the freedom that came with the week he expressed his moonblessing. The only times he can't stand it are when everyone else is experiencing theirs as well.
Having to smell everyone's pheromones and arousal all at once drove him crazy. He doesn't look forward to going through that with his brother. He's already starting to put names to scents Genji returns home with. Which sucks, but he can't bring himself to complain.]
No, it is fine. If it becomes too much, I will just leave. [He offers. It's meant to be reassuring.]

[ he doesn't do anything dramatic like start crying, but there is a hushed urgency in his voice all the same. it's more akin to genji as a child, when he was still afraid of thunder. ]
[He shouldn't be shocked, but the way Genji clings to him like a child that doesn't want to be put down makes it difficult for him to not have an emotional response. Hanzo suspects its a moonblessing thing, but it may very well be his instincts as an older brother. No matter how long they spend apart, those are responses he can't help but have.]
Then I will not be going anywhere.
[Hanzo tries to be reassuring to calm Genji down, patting his back and touching the back of his head gently. He's thankful they live alone and there's no one to watch him pat his brother like an actual small rabbit.]
[ genji lets himself lean down a little to rest his cheek on his brother's shoulder. the panic around his chest lessens, a little. the touches to his head and back soothe him further.
the last thing he wants out of anything is hanzo leaving him alone - and he's not sure that's a moonblessing talking when he thinks about it. ]
