And Mamoru will shake his head a day or two later, running the scene in his mind when everything seemingly seems clearer - how he disregards the jump after the blade, how he does not analyze that fluidity of motion (that can't obviously just be human, no matter how much it mimics it), how indulgent he actually felt there to counteract with a flaunt such as this one:

He doesn't move until the last second.

While the handy-dandy system in his shades projects probable trajectories of ballistic weapons, it doesn't really work with knives. But Mamoru hadn't sensed aggression in the throw. It's how he guesses the trajectory of it despite his limited sight.

Quick with a smooth flick of his wrist, he makes the flat of the sword hit the flat of the knife, making it ricochet upwards with a sharp ping!

He catches it when it comes back down easy enough between two fingers.]
Pretty sure you can do better than that.
